Ma Dong Seok and Son Suk Ku’s new movie “The Outlaws 2” (also known as “The Roundup”) shows no signs of slowing down at the box office! On May 22, just one day after it surpassed 2 million moviegoers at impressive speed, “The Outlaws 2” officially surpassed 3 million moviegoers at 11:50 a.m. KST. The action film was originally released on May 18, meaning that it took less than five days to reach the milestone. “The Outlaws 2” is now the fastest movie since the award-winning film “Parasite” to surpass 3 million moviegoers at the Korean box office, overtaking the previous record of six days held by the hit 2019 film “Ashfall”—which, coincidentally, also starred Ma Dong Seok. Additionally, “The Outlaws 2” drew a total of 1,037,033 moviegoers on May 21 alone, making it the first film since “Parasite” to rack up over 1 million moviegoers within a single day. It is also Ma Dong Seok’s third movie to achieve the feat, following his hit films “Train to Busan” and “Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days.” In honor of the film hitting the 1 million mark, stars Ma Dong Seok, Choi Gwi Hwa, Heo Dong Won, Ha Jun, Park Ji Hwan, Kim Chan Hyung, and Cha Woo Jin posed for celebratory photos to commemorate the occasion.
“The Outlaws 2,” which is the sequel to Ma Dong Seok and Yoon Kye Sang‘s hit 2017 movie “The Outlaws,” also previously set a new record for the fastest film to surpass 2 million moviegoers since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Congratulations to the movie’s cast and crew!
