On August 10, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the opening ceremony of the Seoul Festa, the Global Tourism Festival, as scheduled.

The Seoul Festa 2022 was held for five days until the 14th, starting with the opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. at the Olympic Main Stadium in Jamsil Sports Complex.

During the festival, various events such as “2022 Seoul E-PRIX,” the world’s largest electric vehicle race competition, K-pop concerts, and Seoul Shopping Festa will be held. It is expected to bring vitality to the tourism industry, which has shrunk due to COVID-19, as it is the first large-scale event in three years.

There were also observations that it might be difficult to hold the opening ceremony at the top due to a series of flooding damage due to torrential rains that continued from the 8th, but the city decided to proceed with the event after reviewing it. However, Mayor Oh Se-hoon also organized a live broadcast of the opening ceremony, which he planned without attending the opening ceremony.

A Seoul city official said, “The rain has entered a lull, but if it rains, we will provide raincoats and other related items to the audience,” adding, “If it rains at a dangerous level, we will stop the performance.”

But fortunately, the rain stopped on this day and the event also ended successfully.

The opening ceremony was divided into Part 1 and Part 2. Singer Rain and PSY were in charge of the final stages of the opening ceremony, and K-pop singers such as Tiger JK, Yoon Mi-rae, BIZZY, NATURE, THE BOYZ, LE SSERAFIM, VERIVERY, Stray Kids, NMIXX, NCT Dream, ENHYPEN, and Weki Meki were all in charge of the performance. The MCs for the performance were ASTRO’s Cha Eun-Woo and Kim Se-Jeong. The crossover group “Forrestella” took part in the first performance.

When Rain and PSY appeared, people from all over the festa sang along.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation are preparing for the event and promoting next year’s Festa.

I visited Vietnam and Malaysia. For tourism exchange with Vietnam, Park Hang-seo, the hero of Vietnam, was selected as the ambassador for tourism in Seoul, and Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, was appointed with Vietnam’s distinguished guests and local tourism industry.

This event will be held by DOJC KOREA Travel Agency, which has been selected as Korea’s premium tour and unique venue.

There was also be a meeting place where representatives of the tourism industry, including Seven Luck Casino and Sofitel Hotel, meet with local businessmen to resume tourism exchanges.

In particular, many media workers from Malaysia participated in the Soulful Seoul Night held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, claiming to be special with news from the tourism industry and the promotion of the Seoul Festa. It was also reported on 8TV and 8FM.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation held a meeting between premium Korean travel agencies and local travel agencies, and the Seoul Festa, which attracted many foreigners. The event, which ended successfully, is expected to be even more exciting next year.
